Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (PC) [review]

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is honestly impressing me immensely. After changing the resolution and other random settings to fit my PC’s needs, it looks and plays amazing.

While loading times are rather slow, everything else is seemingly perfect. Definitely feels like a Final Fantasy game, from the new game menu, to the music, I’m sold. ESPECIALLY the music. I’ve always been a personal fan of the Final Fantasy soundtracks, and FFXIV: A Realm Reborn is no exception.

What I really found impressive was the character customization. That blew me away. This is the first Final Fantasy online game that I’ve experienced, so I may be a tad biased here.

I am a little disappointed that all I’ve encountered thus far is quest after quest after quest. Where is the storyline? Hopefully that’ll come… I am writing this review a bit premature. I’m only a level 7 or 8 at this point. However, I just wanted to get my opinion out there. I’m in love with it. Even the fighting is impressing me, although I am used to the turn-based combat from Final Fantasy X and such…

Graphics: 10/10
Gameplay: 7/10 (slow loading times, waiting on a storyline…)
Music: 10/10* (WOW!)
Combat/Fighting: 10/10

I would recommend FFXIV: A Realm Reborn to my friends, but only if they have very similar gaming tastes as me. If I were to choose a game to force my friends into playing with me, sadly, this one wouldn’t be it.

Overall: 8.5/10
